Industrial Centre for ScotWind
With the advent of ScotWind, the Cromarty Firth will become a key centre for the manufacture, assembly and servicing of equipment for new offshore wind projects. Principally, the Firth will have a key role the manufacture of turbine bases, subsea structures, anchoring systems and cabling for floating wind projects.
Deep Water Capability
The Cromarty Firth is a natural deep water harbour protected from turbulent sea conditions. It’s unique characteristics in the north of Scotland make the Firth an advantageous location for the final assembly and seasonal stacking of floating wind turbines. It will act as a base for developers from which to tow turbines to their final installation locations around the north of Scotland.
Industrial Expansion
The scale of the quayside industrial, manufacturing and assembly areas required for ScotWind are unprecedented in Scottish industrial history. The Firth will require expanded quayside assembly areas, larger manufacturing and servicing facilities and new accommodation for onshore support staff. Expanded industrial infrastructure will also benefit from onsite power generation and quayside refuelling services.
Opportunity for Global Energy Group
Global Energy Group is well placed to capitalise on the Cromarty Firth’s economic and geographical advantages. Savills can advise Global Energy Group on business investment for ScotWind, including in site masterplanning and design, investment in new development, the upgrade of existing facilities, leasing, clean power generation and planning consultancy.
